**Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh –** A boatman’s family in Prayagraj has achieved remarkable success, earning a staggering ₹30 crore profit during the recently concluded Mahakumbh Mela 2025. Inspired by their earnings during the 2019 Ardh Kumbh, Pintu Mahara and his family invested heavily, building 70 boats to transport pilgrims during the 45-day event.

Mahara, who took out bank loans and mortgaged family jewelry to fund the venture, employed over 300 people. Their services included boat rides, bathing arrangements, and additional assistance for devotees, including free dedicated services. The family’s foresight proved lucrative, with each boat generating an estimated ₹50,000-₹52,000 per day.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded the family’s achievement, highlighting their success as a testament to the government’s support for local businesses. He also refuted opposition claims of exploitation of boatmen during the Mela.

Mahara attributed his success to the leadership of both CM Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the positive impact of their policies on local entrepreneurs. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity and hopes to participate in the next Mahakumbh in 12 years.

Despite the challenges, including illness amongst his team due to the demanding workload, Mahara expressed immense satisfaction, describing the experience as priceless. His mother also expressed gratitude, attributing their success to divine intervention.

The Mahakumbh Mela 2025, held on the banks of the Sangam in Prayagraj, attracted over 66 crore devotees, making it a historically significant event.
