Wed Mar 05 17:30:13 UTC 2025: ## 19-Year-Old Arrested for Allegedly Repeatedly Slashing Woman Who Resisted Rape Attempt
**Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra –** A 19-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly repeatedly stabbing a 36-year-old woman after she resisted his attempted rape in the Ghardon area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. Police identified the accused as Abhishek Navpute.
According to police, Navpute had been stalking the victim for some time. On Sunday, he allegedly attempted to strangle and rape her while she was working in a field. When she resisted, he attacked her with a knife, inflicting approximately 15 wounds. Believing the woman to be dead, Navpute fled the scene.
The victim was later discovered by her mother-in-law and rushed to a hospital. She regained consciousness on Monday night and reported the attack to the police, providing details of the assault and identifying her attacker.
Following an investigation, Navpute was apprehended on Tuesday at a nearby farm. He is currently in police custody and faces charges related to attempted rape and attempted murder. The victim remains hospitalized.
