**Visakhapatnam, March 6, 2025** – A two-day NASSCOM mega career fair, inaugurated Wednesday at GITAM Deemed to be University, aims to address the growing skill gap and improve youth employability in Visakhapatnam. The event, a collaboration between the Andhra Pradesh government, NASSCOM, and several state-level organizations, attracted over 33,682 unemployed youth.
Visakhapatnam MP and GITAM president M. Sribharat emphasized the need for job seekers to develop industry-relevant skills beyond academic degrees. He expressed hope that the career fair would provide valuable insights into current skill requirements.
Visakhapatnam Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad highlighted the skills mismatch between graduates and market demands, particularly in the face of emerging technologies like AI. He advocated for the use of online learning platforms to bridge this gap and enhance employability.
Upmith Singh, NASSCOM IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council’s COO, underscored the importance of continuous skilling and reskilling in navigating the rapidly evolving job market. He promoted NASSCOM FutureSkills Prime, an initiative designed to equip learners with cutting-edge digital skills.
