**Jamnagar, Gujarat:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi today visited Vantara, a newly-opened animal rescue and rehabilitation center in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The sprawling 3,000-acre facility houses over 1.5 lakh rescued animals, including over 2,000 endangered species.
During his visit, PM Modi interacted with a variety of animals, including Asiatic lion cubs, white lion cubs, leopard cubs, snow tigers, a snow leopard, giraffes, elephants, and parrots. Photos and videos shared on social media show the Prime Minister playfully engaging with the animals, even feeding water to lion cubs and an orphaned rhinoceros. He also observed advanced veterinary procedures, including surgeries, at the center’s state-of-the-art wildlife hospital, which boasts facilities such as MRI, CT scans, and ICUs. One surgery witnessed involved a leopard recovering from a car accident.
PM Modi praised Vantara as a “vibrant example of our centuries-old ethos of protecting those we share our planet with,” highlighting India’s commitment to wildlife conservation. The center replicates natural habitats for its rescued animals, showcasing a significant investment in wildlife protection.
