**Mumbai, March 5, 2025** – The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the appointment of Ajit Ratnakar Joshi as Executive Director. Mr. Joshi will oversee the Department of Statistics and Information Management and the Financial Stability Department.
Joshi, who boasts over 30 years of experience in statistics, information technology, and cyber risk management, previously served as Principal Adviser in the Department of Statistics and Information Management. His extensive background includes a faculty position at the Institute of Development and Research in Banking Technology in Hyderabad and participation in numerous committees focused on macroeconomic statistics and policy.
His academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Statistics from Nagpur University, a Ph.D. in Monetary Economics from IIT Madras, and a Diploma in Development Policy and Planning from the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi. He is also a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.
