Wed Mar 05 17:54:19 UTC 2025: ## CISF to Launch Great Indian Coastal Cyclothon

**Mangaluru, March 5, 2025** – The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will launch the first “Great Indian Coastal Cyclothon” on March 7th, a 6,553 km journey along India’s coastline to raise awareness about national security. The event, celebrating the CISF’s 56th Raising Day, will see 125 cyclists, including 14 women, traversing 11 states over 25 days.

The cyclothon will follow two routes: a western route from Lakhpat, Gujarat, to Kanyakumari, covering 3,775 km, and an eastern route starting from Bakkhali, West Bengal, covering 2,778 km. The western route’s leg will reach Mangaluru’s Panambur on March 26th, with a local flag-off ceremony at the New Mangalore Port Authority premises on March 27th. The cyclothon will conclude at the Swami Vivekananda Memorial in Kanyakumari on March 31st.

Under the theme “Secure Shores, Prosperous India,” the event aims to highlight threats to coastal security, such as smuggling of drugs, weapons, and explosives. The cyclists will pass through major coastal cities including Mumbai, Goa, Kochi, Haldia, Konark, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, and Pondicherry. Along the route, various events featuring CISF teams, schoolchildren, and NCC groups will be held. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will virtually flag off the cyclothon from the CISF Regional Training Centre in Tamil Nadu.
