Tue Mar 04 18:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Bruins Shake Up Roster, Trading Frederic to Oilers in Multi-Team Deal

**Boston, MA –** In a three-team trade that reshapes their forward depth, the Boston Bruins have sent pending unrestricted free agent Trent Frederic to the Edmonton Oilers. The deal, announced Tuesday ahead of the NHL trade deadline, also includes forwards Max Jones (Bruins to Oilers) and unsigned draft pick Petr Hauser (Bruins to Oilers). To facilitate the move, the New Jersey Devils acquired forward Shane LaChance from the Oilers, with Boston retaining 50% of Frederic’s salary.

In return for Frederic, Jones, and Hauser, the Bruins receive AHL defenseman Max Wanner from Edmonton, a 2025 second-round pick (originally belonging to the St. Louis Blues), and a 2026 fourth-round pick from the Oilers.

Frederic, 27, has spent his entire NHL career with Boston. While he’s shown offensive potential (18 goals last season, 8 goals and 15 points in 57 games this season), he’s primarily played a depth role. Currently sidelined with a lower-body injury, Frederic’s expiring contract carried a $2.3 million cap hit. The trade signals a shift in the Bruins’ roster strategy as they look toward the future.
