**Bengaluru, [Date]** – Bengaluru Police have arrested two men for running a sophisticated scam involving fake job offers at the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), India’s premier intelligence agency. One suspect, posing as an R&AW Intelligence Special Officer since 2021 and claiming to head the Bangalore City office, allegedly defrauded numerous job seekers.
The arrests followed a complaint filed on February 26th reporting a fraudulent job offer. The primary suspect was apprehended in Kampali, Hyderabad, and subsequently confessed to the crime. He implicated a Jayanagar-based Xerox shop owner as an accomplice, who was also arrested.
Police seized a significant amount of incriminating evidence from the main suspect’s Gandhinagar lodge, including 86 fake R&AW letterheads, a fraudulent R&AW identity card, six service books, and numerous counterfeit appointment letters.
The operation was conducted by the Central Crime Branch’s Special Investigation Squad, under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner of Police. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the scam and identify any further victims.
