Beirut, Lebanon – Israeli drone strikes wounded two people in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, Lebanese officials reported. The incident, near Ras Naqura, targeted a vehicle in which two siblings were collecting scrap metal, according to the National News Agency (NNA). The injured were transported to a hospital.

The Israeli military confirmed the strike, stating it targeted individuals engaged in activities violating the November 27 ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah. Israel alleged that it had identified suspects loading weapons onto vehicles in the area. The military claimed the strike was necessary to neutralize the threat, describing the suspects’ actions as a blatant ceasefire violation.

This latest incident follows Tuesday’s killing of a Hezbollah navy commander by Israel, who accused the commander of violating the ceasefire. The ceasefire, which largely ended over a year of hostilities, including a two-month war, has seen continued Israeli strikes on Lebanese territory. Despite a February 18th deadline for withdrawal, Israeli forces remain in five locations they consider strategic in southern Lebanon. Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, has declared that these forces will remain indefinitely in a self-declared buffer zone. The ceasefire also stipulated Hezbollah’s withdrawal north of the Litani River and the dismantling of military infrastructure in the south.
