**Karimnagar, March 5, 2025** – The BJP’s Chinnamile Anji Reddy is currently leading in the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates’ Constituency MLC elections, holding a significant 7,142-vote advantage over his Congress rival, V. Narender Reddy. Preliminary results from Tuesday night show Mr. Reddy with 38,553 first preference votes compared to Mr. Narender Reddy’s 31,411. The BSP candidate trails significantly.
However, a surprisingly high number of invalid votes – approximately 28,000 out of 252,100 total votes cast – has raised concerns among candidates. The unusually high invalidation rate is attributed to the preferential voting system and use of ballot papers.
Counting is expected to continue throughout Wednesday as the process moves to second preference votes and eliminations to determine the final victor. The outcome remains uncertain due to the significant number of spoiled ballots.
