**New Delhi, March 5, 2025** – Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the timely execution of all budget announcements for the fiscal year 2025-26. Speaking at a post-budget webinar, she highlighted the swift implementation of several measures from the July 2024 budget, including a doubling of the Mudra loan limit for the Tarun category to ₹20 lakh and the opening of 21 new SIDBI branches in MSME clusters.
The success of the PM Internship Scheme, with over 1.25 lakh internship opportunities created and six lakh applications received, was also cited as evidence of the government’s commitment to fulfilling its budgetary promises. Sitharaman attributed the efficient implementation to the shift in the budget presentation date to February 1st, providing more time for planning and execution.
The minister emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline business regulations, citing the removal of over 42,000 compliances and decriminalization of over 3,700 legal provisions since 2014. An upcoming Jan Vishwas Bill 2.0 aims to further decriminalize over 100 provisions. These measures, she stated, are aimed at creating an export-friendly environment that fosters innovation and growth.
A significant ₹15.48 lakh crore has been allocated for capital expenditure in 2025-26 (4.3% of GDP), with ₹11.21 lakh crore designated as core capital expenditure by the center (3.1% of GDP). Sitharaman highlighted that this substantial investment in infrastructure is generating jobs and bolstering industries.
The webinar, attended by government officials, industry leaders, and trade experts, focused on key sectors including MSMEs, manufacturing, exports, nuclear energy, and regulatory reforms. Feedback received during the discussions will be used to refine strategies and address implementation challenges, ensuring effective translation of budgetary announcements into tangible outcomes.
