Tue Mar 04 17:03:54 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Cantonment Attack Kills 12, Injures 30

**PESHAWAR, Pakistan (March 5, 2025)** – A suicide bombing at the Bannu cantonment in northwest Pakistan on March 4th resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people, including four children and two women, and injured 30 more. Two explosive-laden vehicles rammed into the cantonment’s boundary wall around sunset.

The Jaish Al Fursan, a little-known group affiliated with Hafiz Gul Bahadur and a faction of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack. Following the explosions, multiple terrorists attempted to breach the cantonment’s defenses; security forces neutralized at least six. A clearance operation is underway.

The blast also caused damage to nearby civilian structures, including a mosque, resulting in additional casualties. All injured have been transported to DHQ Hospital in Bannu. Authorities have sealed off access to the blast site.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur condemned the attack, expressing sorrow and offering condolences to the victims’ families. He described the timing of the attack, during Ramadan, as especially tragic.

This attack comes amid a surge in terrorist activity in Pakistan. According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), January 2025 saw a 42% increase in militant attacks compared to December 2024. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains the hardest-hit province.
