**Krishnagiri, March 5, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu government has approved ₹3.5 crore for the construction of a 10-kilometer steel wire rope fence in Denkanikottai, Krishnagiri district. The fence aims to mitigate human-elephant conflict in the region.

The project, announced by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in March 2024, will be funded in two phases. The initial ₹80 lakh has been sanctioned by the state government and will be released to the Wild Life Warden, Hosur, per a government order from the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Forests. The remaining funds will be allocated in 2025-26 from the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT). The Krishnagiri Collector has been instructed to expedite the release of the initial funds. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the growing problem of human-wildlife conflict in the state.
