**Krishnagiri, March 5, 2025** – A joint operation by the Civil Supplies Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and a flying squad in Krishnagiri has resulted in the seizure of over 70 tonnes of rice intended for the Public Distribution System (PDS). Two separate raids, prompted by a tip-off, led to the recovery of 43 tonnes from two lorries and an additional 27 tonnes from a rice mill in Kallakurichi.
One suspect, Dandapani from Salem, was arrested, and his interrogation revealed that the rice originated from Kallakurichi, Villupuram, and Ullundurpet. A heavy vehicle was also seized. A case has been registered, and the Civil Supplies CID is continuing its investigation to uncover the full extent of the smuggling network.
