Mon Mar 03 06:41:54 UTC 2025: ## TMC Accuses Election Commission of Voter Fraud in West Bengal

**New Delhi, March 3, 2025** – The Trinamool Congress (TMC) today accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of allowing widespread voter fraud in West Bengal, alleging that non-residents are being illegally brought in to cast votes using duplicate Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICs).

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, TMC Rajya Sabha leader Derek O’Brien labeled the alleged scheme an “Epic Scam,” claiming that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee first exposed the issue on February 27th. O’Brien criticized the ECI’s response, noting that while the commission acknowledged an error, it hasn’t taken full responsibility. He highlighted the potential for voters to be disenfranchised while others with identical EPIC numbers cast votes fraudulently.

O’Brien questioned the timing of the ECI’s statement, released just two hours before the TMC press conference, suggesting a possible cover-up. The TMC issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the ECI, demanding acknowledgement of the alleged discrepancy. Failure to do so, O’Brien warned, would result in the release of further evidence at 9 a.m. tomorrow. The party also called for a comprehensive clean-up of voter lists within the next three months to ensure fair elections scheduled for March, April, and May. The accusations come amidst heightened political tension in the state.
