**Bengaluru, India (March 3, 2025)** – Popular Bengaluru-based rapper Brodha V has released his latest single, “Hengaithe Maige,” a Kannada-language track featuring fellow Bengaluru artists like stand-up comedian Danish Sait and rapper Rahul Dit-O. The song, shot in and around Bengaluru, offers a lighthearted take on the common phrase “sizing someone up,” with Brodha V emphasizing a “live and let live” philosophy.
Brodha V, who has been active in the Indian rap scene for 17 years, reminisced about the genre’s early days in India. He described the initial challenges of establishing rap music and building an audience, highlighting the crucial role of cyphers – gatherings of rappers where they showcase their skills – in fostering a community. He credits the rise of online platforms like YouTube and Facebook with helping expand his reach.
The multilingual rapper, who incorporates Carnatic and Hindustani influences into his music, shared his unique path to becoming a musician. He revealed that his love for music stemmed from early exposure to Michael Jackson and unexpectedly, AR Rahman’s “Petta Rap” from the film *Kadhalan*. He only seriously considered music as a career after discovering his passion for writing poetry and short stories.
Brodha V also discussed two significant releases: “Aathma Raama” (2012), which integrated Sanskrit and devotional elements, and “D.A.T.N” (Dance Away The Night), a 2024 collaboration with Paal Dabba that explores the challenges and opportunities faced by Indian musicians on the global stage. He views “D.A.T.N” as a statement about India’s growing influence and the power Indian artists now wield.
“Hengaithe Maige” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
