**Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu – March 3, 2025** – A 35-year-old temporary teacher, P. Francis, has been arrested and remanded in judicial custody for allegedly sexually harassing a student. The arrest follows a complaint filed by the student with the District Child Protection Unit regarding an incident during a special class held at a government-aided school in Velayuthapuram near Kadayanallur.
Francis, who was tasked with monitoring students in the special class for weaker students preparing for public examinations, is accused of misconduct under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Following an inquiry by the District Child Protection Officer, Arun Prasad, who confirmed the allegations, a complaint was filed with Puliyangudi police leading to Francis’ arrest and imprisonment in Palayamkottai Central Prison.
