**Hyderabad, March 2, 2025** – The National Convention of the National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM), celebrating its 30th anniversary, concluded its second day in Hyderabad today. The event, held at the Exhibition Grounds, brought together activists and leaders from diverse movements across India to discuss pressing social and environmental issues.
Over two days, the convention featured focused discussions on 14 key themes, culminating in the development of a future action agenda. Participants shared their experiences and struggles, highlighting both successes and setbacks in their ongoing fights for justice and equality.
Issues discussed ranged widely, encompassing the rights of sanitation workers in Karnataka, labor rights in Rajasthan, the challenges faced by women in agriculture, and the specific struggles of transgender communities. Muskaan, a transgender rights activist from Bhopal, spoke about the multifaceted challenges faced by transgender individuals, emphasizing the intersectional nature of caste, gender, and sexual identity in the fight for rights.
Prominent figures such as RTI and citizens’ rights activist Anjali Bhardwaj and Goldman Environmental Prize recipient Prafulla Samantara led plenary sessions. The convention served as a platform for activists to share their experiences and strategize for future action, reinforcing the NAPM’s commitment to social justice and advocacy.
