**Madurai, March 3, 2025** – A 52-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, Nagendran, was publicly commended and rewarded by Madurai City Commissioner of Police J. Loganathan on Monday for his honesty. Nagendran returned a bag containing 15 sovereigns of gold and a mobile phone to its rightful owner, Saravanakumar, after Saravanakumar inadvertently left it in his auto on Sunday.
Saravanakumar, realizing his loss, immediately filed a police report. Meanwhile, Nagendran, upon discovering the bag, actively searched for Saravanakumar in the Mahal area before the police located him. He subsequently handed over the valuables to Saravanakumar at the Teppakulam police station in the presence of officers.
Commissioner Loganathan praised Nagendran’s exemplary honesty and awarded him a cash reward of ₹1,000. The incident has been widely lauded as a testament to integrity and responsible citizenship.
