Mon Mar 03 09:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Shared Progression Ensures Balanced Gameplay

**London, UK –** Ubisoft has revealed new details about the progression system in its upcoming title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, releasing March 20th. The game features two playable protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe, and a unique system ensures neither character is left behind.

Players will share progression across both characters, meaning experience points (XP), levels, Mastery Points, and Knowledge will be equally distributed between Yasuke and Naoe. This eliminates the need for individual grinding and ensures a balanced experience regardless of which character the player focuses on.

Mastery Points allow players to customize each character’s skills through unique skill trees tied to specific weapons and archetypes. Associate Game Director Julien explained that this system lets players “dedicate themselves to a specific weapon, playstyle, or archetype and deepen their mastery.” Knowledge points, earned through non-violent activities like praying at shrines and finding collectibles, unlock additional abilities within the skill trees.

The developers have also confirmed that the most advanced abilities will be locked behind specific challenges, such as defeating a group of elite shinobi to unlock Naoe’s final assassination upgrade. A new Knowledge tree, offering additional passive skills, will become available near the endgame. While Ubisoft hasn’t divulged details, they hinted at a significant impact on the player’s preferred playstyle.
