**Guntur, Andhra Pradesh –** The Central government has approved ₹223.65 crore for Andhra Pradesh’s rural road infrastructure development under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar announced on Saturday.

The funds, allocated over the past eight months, will be used to improve road networks across the state. A significant portion, ₹143.24 crore, is earmarked for Guntur district alone, with the remaining ₹80.41 crore designated for other areas. The projects will be undertaken with a 60:40 cost-sharing arrangement between the central and state governments.

Specific projects include the construction of 20 roads spanning 139 km, receiving ₹123.46 crore (₹74 crore from the Centre and ₹49.3 crore from the state). Furthermore, four new bridges are planned, with a total estimated cost of ₹100 crore (₹29 crore from the Centre). In Guntur district, 12 road projects covering 78.51 km will receive approximately ₹90 crore in funding.

Mr. Chandra Sekhar made the announcement during a press conference in Guntur, alongside local MLAs. The minister highlighted the significance of these investments in improving rural connectivity within Andhra Pradesh.
