**Suwon, South Korea** – Gyeonggi Province announced the activation of its emergency response level 1 at 10 PM on February 2nd, in anticipation of heavy snowfall and rainfall. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts 20-60mm of rain across the metropolitan area and up to 20cm of snow in inland Gyeonggi Province from February 2nd to 3rd. Further snowfall of 3-8cm is predicted in southern Gyeonggi and 1-5cm in the northern region on February 4th.

Governor Kim Dong-yeon sent a notice to all cities and counties urging thorough snow removal preparations and safety management, especially focusing on vulnerable areas like construction sites and greenhouses. The province emphasized the need for real-time monitoring of weather conditions and proactive measures to prevent potential building collapses and traffic disruptions, particularly in consideration of school openings on February 4th.

The emergency response team, comprising 15 officials and representatives from cities and counties, will focus on road maintenance, transportation, and agriculture. Province officials warned that the expected heavy, wet snow poses a significant risk of structural collapses, urging residents to evacuate immediately if they notice any signs of building instability. The province is urging citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with the ongoing emergency response efforts.
