WARANGAL, TELANGANA – Tensions ran high near Mamunuru in Warangal district today following a clash between BJP and Congress party workers. The altercation, which involved pushing and shoving, occurred after the BJP celebrated the central government’s approval for the development of a new airport in Mamunuru.

The central government recently green-lighted the Mamunuru airport project, following a request from the Telangana state government and negotiations with GMR, the operator of Hyderabad’s Shamshabad Airport. Concerns over proximity to Shamshabad were addressed, allowing the project to proceed. BJP workers gathered to celebrate the Prime Minister’s role in the approval, while the arrival of Congress workers led to the confrontation.

Police swiftly intervened, dispersing both groups and restoring order. A heavy security presence has been deployed to prevent further incidents at the airport site. The airport development is expected to begin soon.
