Sat Mar 01 16:12:43 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Braces for Scorching Summer After Record-Breaking February

**Vijayawada, March 1, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh is preparing for an exceptionally hot summer, following an unusually warm February. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted above-normal maximum and minimum temperatures across the state from March to May. Only isolated areas in Rayalaseema may see temperatures within the normal range.

February saw temperatures 4-5 degrees Celsius above normal in most parts of the state for the first two weeks, with Kurnool consistently recording the highest temperatures (37-39°C). While the IMD had forecast “normal to above normal” temperatures for February, the actual temperatures exceeded expectations.

The IMD warns of a higher-than-normal number of heatwave days in March and throughout the summer. However, the forecast of above-normal rainfall in March may offer some relief from the intense heat. Parents and students are pictured waiting outside an Intermediate examination centre in Visakhapatnam in the face of the intense heat. The state is urging residents to take precautions against the expected extreme weather conditions.
