Sat Mar 01 12:21:14 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Minister Denies Congress Power-Sharing Deal, Rejects BJP Speculation

**Mysuru, March 1, 2025** – Karnataka Minister H.C. Mahadevappa dismissed rumors of a power-sharing agreement within the Congress government on Saturday. Responding to speculation about a potential shift in power from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Mahadevappa, a close confidante of Siddaramaiah, stated he was unaware of any such agreement reached at the party’s high command level.

He further deflected questions regarding Shivakumar’s recent appearance alongside Union Home Minister Amit Shah at a religious event, suggesting reporters direct such inquiries to the Deputy Chief Minister himself. Mahadevappa brushed aside concerns raised by some party members about Shivakumar’s perceived closeness to the BJP, emphasizing Shivakumar’s position as Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC president.

The Minister strongly rejected BJP predictions of a Maharashtra-style political upheaval in Karnataka, asserting that the state will continue under Siddaramaiah’s leadership. He attributed such BJP claims to an “identity crisis” within the opposition party.

Mahadevappa also defended the government’s B-khata drive, refuting opposition claims that it’s a measure to fund guarantee schemes and leading to government bankruptcy. He characterized the drive as fulfilling a long-standing public demand, providing relief to residents of revenue layouts.
