**Dehradun, [Date]:** The Uttarakhand Transport Department has launched a major crackdown on traffic violations ahead of the upcoming tourist season. A special joint checking campaign conducted on the Badrinath and Kedarnath highways resulted in 50 vehicles being fined.
According to ARTO Deepak Kumar, the inspections revealed numerous violations. The department issued 11 challans for unpaid taxes, 3 for passenger overloading, 1 for goods overloading, 2 for operating vehicles without permits, 7 for driving without insurance, 5 for riding without helmets, 5 for driving without licenses, 6 for not wearing seat belts, 4 for lacking pollution certificates, and 31 for other offenses.
Kumar stated that these enforcement drives will continue regularly to ensure road safety and proper compliance with traffic regulations. The department plans to conduct more such special operations in the coming weeks.
