Tue Feb 25 14:58:49 UTC 2025: ## Kolkata Yoga Session Interrupted by Grisly Discovery: Body Found in Suitcase

**Kolkata, India** – A morning yoga session on the ghats of the Ganga river in Kolkata’s Kumartuli neighbourhood took a shocking turn this morning when locals uncovered a body hidden inside a purple suitcase.

Around 7:30 am, yoga participants noticed two women struggling to move a heavy suitcase towards the river. Their suspicious behaviour prompted questioning, revealing evasiveness and a refusal to allow anyone to touch the luggage. The locals called the neighbourhood police.

Raja Sau, who runs the yoga camp, reported that the women initially claimed the suitcase contained their Labrador dog. However, the inconsistencies in their story – the size and weight of the suitcase compared to a dog, and their inability to move it – raised further suspicion. Eventually, one of the women admitted the suitcase contained the body of her sister-in-law, who they claimed had committed suicide.

The police, alerted by the growing crowd, arrived and arrested the two women, identified as Falguni Ghosh and her mother, Aarati Ghosh. The deceased was confirmed to be Sumita Ghosh, their aunt-in-law.

Initial investigations indicate the women, residents of Madhyamgram, transported the suitcase via a cart to a taxi stand before arriving in Kumartuli. CCTV footage corroborates this account. While neighbours reported seeing strangers visiting the Ghosh residence at night, the family reportedly kept to themselves, providing limited details to investigators.

The police are pursuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sumita Ghosh’s death, including the possibility of foul play. This incident follows a recent triple murder in Tangra, further unsettling the city. The Tangra case involved the deaths of two women and a girl, allegedly murdered by two brothers who claimed a suicide attempt in a car crash. Police are now pursuing charges against those men.
