Sat Feb 22 18:59:47 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad Traffic Police Crack Down on Illegal Vehicle Modifications
**Hyderabad, February 23, 2025** – Over 250 Hyderabad-based traders, mechanics, and number plate manufacturers attended an awareness program hosted by the city’s traffic police to curb illegal vehicle modifications. The program focused on violations of the Motor Vehicles Act, including the use of illegal dark film on windows, unauthorized sirens and horns, modified silencers, and non-standard number plates.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), P. Viswa Prasad, warned attendees of strict penalties for violations. He emphasized the legal responsibility of traders to inform customers about existing restrictions and maintain detailed records of all modifications.
A key concern highlighted was the illegal use of black film on vehicle windows. Officials reiterated the mandatory 70% light transmission requirement for windshields and 50% for side windows, as per Central Motor Vehicle Rule 100. The use of black film, which hinders visibility and poses security risks, remains strictly prohibited.
The program also addressed the illegal use of multi-toned horns, unauthorized sound devices, and modified silencers, stressing the importance of standardized number plates for efficient law enforcement. The initiative aims to improve road safety and enhance security within the city.
