THENI, February 22, 2025 – A joint operation between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh police has resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of 25 kg of ganja (marijuana). A special team from Theni district, led by Inspector Parthiban, tracked down the suspects – Mogi Reddy alias Venkatesh, Chelly Babu alias Nageshwar Rao, and Nagamani alias Pipereddy – in Andhra Pradesh following a multi-month investigation.
The arrests are a significant blow to a ganja and hashish oil smuggling operation supplying narcotics to Theni district. The investigation began after several arrests in Theni months ago. The special team spent ten days in Andhra Pradesh, working with local authorities to identify and apprehend the suspects.
Superintendent of Police R. Shiva Prasad praised the team’s efforts, highlighting the importance of tackling the issue at its source to cut off the supply chain. The investigation is ongoing.
