**New Delhi, February 22, 2025** – India has lodged a strong protest with Turkey after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s recent comments on Kashmir during a visit to Pakistan. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, stated that such remarks on India’s territorial integrity are unacceptable.

Erdogan’s statement, made last week, urged a resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Jaiswal firmly reiterated India’s stance that Jammu and Kashmir is, and will remain, an integral part of India, asserting that no other country has the right to comment on its internal affairs. He criticized Pakistan’s use of cross-border terrorism, calling it the biggest threat to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and suggesting that addressing this issue would be more appropriate than commenting on India’s internal matters. The MEA’s statement underscored India’s rejection of Erdogan’s comments and confirmed the lodging of a formal protest with the Turkish ambassador.
