Sat Feb 22 11:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Michigan Court Reduces Damages in Organic Lawn Lawsuit

**DETROIT, MI (AP)** — A Michigan appeals court has significantly reduced the damages awarded to a Detroit-area homeowner whose organic lawn was destroyed by herbicide. Marilyn Mack was originally awarded $88,550 after a man accidentally sprayed herbicide on her Oak Park property in 2020, killing her clover lawn. Mack claimed the incident caused her depression, anxiety, and emotional distress.

While the court upheld the $22,400 awarded for property damage, it overturned the additional $66,150 awarded for non-economic damages, such as emotional distress. The reduced award leaves Mack with a significantly smaller settlement. The weather forecast for the Detroit area is partly cloudy with a high of 38°F and a low of 24°F.
