Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – Andhra Pradesh police destroyed over 3.7 tonnes of ganja and 4.2 kg of liquid ganja on Saturday, February 22nd, as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking. The incineration, which took place at Jindal Urban Management in Yadlapadu village, Palnadu district, involved confiscated narcotics from 183 cases across four sub-divisions of Krishna district.

The event, attended by Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta, saw the destruction of ganja estimated to be worth ₹1.87 crore (approximately $2.27 million USD). DGP Gupta emphasized the state government’s commitment to eradicating illegal drug trafficking, highlighting the role of the Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (Eagle) Organization in strengthening surveillance and the seizure of traffickers’ assets. He also noted ongoing awareness programs in colleges to prevent youth drug addiction and inter-state cooperation to curb smuggling. Several senior police officials were present at the incineration.
