**Thiruvananthapuram, February 22, 2025** – The Kerala State government has disbursed ₹1,904.90 crore to local bodies as the third installment of the development fund for the 2024-25 fiscal year. This allocation includes ₹222.17 crore for corporations, ₹193.01 crore for municipalities, ₹245.15 crore for district panchayats, ₹245.15 crore for block panchayats, and ₹999.4 crore for grama panchayats, according to a Finance Department order issued on February 20.
The funds cover allocations under the general category, Scheduled Caste Sub Plan, and the Tribal Sub Plan. The total development fund earmarked for local bodies in the 2024-25 budget amounts to ₹8,532 crore, encompassing grants for the health sector, the 15th Finance Commission award, and funds allocated under the Kerala Solid Waste Management Project (KSWMP).
This disbursement follows a state government decision, based on the recommendations of the 6th State Finance Commission, to distribute the development fund (excluding Finance Commission grants and KSWMP allocations) in three installments.
