**Mumbai, February 21, 2025** – A major fire erupted Thursday evening near the gates of Mumbai’s Film City in Aarey Colony, destroying 150-200 hutments in Santosh Nagar. While no injuries have been reported, the blaze, which started around 7:30 p.m., has left hundreds homeless.
Seven fire tenders and other equipment were deployed to control the fire, which has now been contained. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has provided temporary shelter and food at Gokuldham municipal school for an estimated 200-250 residents. Emergency services, including the 108 ambulance service, remain on-site. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
