Thu Feb 20 17:59:28 UTC 2025: **MLA Walks Out of Committee Meeting Over BDA’s NPKL Delay**
Bengaluru, February 20, 2025 – Opposition MLA and former Urban Development Minister S. Suresh Kumar staged a walkout from a State Legislature Petitions Committee meeting on Thursday, protesting the Bangalore Development Authority’s (BDA) explanation for delays in infrastructure development at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout (NPKL).
Mr. Kumar, in a social media post, expressed his anger at a BDA official’s claim that he was being misled by allottees of smaller plots (20×30 sites). He asserted that his walkout was in defense of allottees struggling to build homes nine years after site allocation. He highlighted the BDA’s failure to meet deadlines, citing a 2023 project delay and the BDA’s classification as a defaulter by the Real Estate Regulatory Authority.
The BDA Commissioner, N. Jayaram, who had previously missed committee summons, appeared on Thursday to defend the BDA. However, the committee has now scheduled a spot inspection of both NPKL and Dr. Shivaram Karanth Layout to assess the progress of BDA’s civil works firsthand.
