**MUMBAI –** Maharashtra is set to establish a new Cyber Security Corporation, transforming its existing Cyber Cell into a more robust entity based in Navi Mumbai, sources have revealed to NDTV. This corporation will mandate annual cyber audits for all companies operating within the state.
Failure to comply with the new regulation will result in a hefty fine of ₹25,000 per day. Crucially, these audits can only be conducted by the Maharashtra Cyber Security Corporation or companies specifically empanelled by it.
The initiative aims to bolster cybersecurity across the state’s businesses, mitigating the rising threat of cyberattacks and data breaches. The corporation plans to implement software designed to prevent such attacks during the audit process. The move is seen as a proactive step to protect sensitive business information and strengthen Maharashtra’s overall digital security infrastructure.
