Thu Feb 20 18:26:36 UTC 2025: ## Rohit Sharma Joins Elite ODI Club, Second Fastest to 11,000 Runs
**Mirpur, Bangladesh –** Indian captain Rohit Sharma reached a monumental milestone during India’s Champions Trophy match against Bangladesh on Thursday. He became only the second-fastest batter, after fellow Indian Virat Kohli, to score 11,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs).
Sharma achieved the feat in his 270th ODI, surpassing the mark in just 261 innings – second only to Kohli’s record of 222 innings. This places him amongst an exclusive group of only ten batters globally and just the fourth Indian to reach this impressive landmark in the 50-over format. Other notable names in this elite club include Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, and Sourav Ganguly.
Sharma’s accomplishment came during India’s chase of 229 runs, hitting a boundary off Mustafizur Rahman in the fourth over. He now sits behind Ganguly in the overall list of highest ODI run-scorers, with Tendulkar holding a commanding lead at the top. Sharma’s impressive ODI career also boasts an average of nearly 50, along with 32 centuries and 52 half-centuries. He’s also second in the list of most sixes hit in ODIs, with 338 maximums. India boasts six players on the overall list of 15 batsmen to have reached 10,000 ODI runs. The achievement further solidifies Sharma’s place as one of the most successful ODI batsmen of his generation.
