**Kolkata, India** – Kolkata police are investigating the deaths of two women and a 14-year-old girl found at a Tangra residence, raising suspicions of murder-suicide. The women, wives of two brothers, and the daughter of one brother, were discovered deceased yesterday, their wrists slit. However, post-mortem reports reveal additional injuries, including throat slashes and, in the case of the girl, bruises and signs of poisoning.
The women’s husbands and the son of one brother were involved in a car crash earlier that morning near Abhishikta crossing. The men, who are hospitalized with injuries, initially claimed they had attempted suicide by crashing their car into a metro pillar after their wives had already taken their own lives.
Police are now exploring alternative theories. The post-mortem findings, coupled with the location of the bodies in separate rooms within the house, and the family’s reported financial difficulties from their tannery business, have led investigators to consider the possibility of murder followed by a suicide attempt by the men. The police have collected forensic evidence and are continuing their investigation. The deceased have been identified as Sudeshna Dey, Romi Dey, and the 14-year-old daughter of one of the men, Priyambada. Their husbands, Pranoy and Prasun Dey, and their son, Pratik, remain hospitalized.
