Thu Feb 20 09:13:30 UTC 2025: ## BJP’s Rekha Gupta Sworn in as Delhi Chief Minister, Vows to Transform Kejriwal’s Residence into Museum

**New Delhi** – Rekha Gupta was sworn in today as Delhi’s new Chief Minister, becoming only the fourth woman to hold the post and the fourth BJP Chief Minister in the city’s history. Gupta, who defeated AAP candidate Bandana Kumari in the Shalimar Bagh constituency, pledged to transform the former official residence of Arvind Kejriwal, dubbed “Sheeshmahal” (Palace of Mirrors) by the BJP, into a museum.

The “Sheeshmahal,” a 40,000-square-yard bungalow, has been at the center of controversy following a CPWD report detailing lavish renovations and high-end appliances installed during Kejriwal’s tenure. Following the report, released in October 2024, the central government launched an investigation into alleged irregularities and building code violations.

In an interview with NDTV, Gupta reiterated the BJP’s commitment to addressing the controversies surrounding the bungalow. “We will make Sheeshmahal a museum,” she stated, adding that she would also fulfill all promises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity and emphasized her commitment to addressing women’s issues as a top priority.

Gupta’s appointment follows a BJP legislature party meeting. While there was initial speculation that Parvesh Verma, who defeated Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, might become Chief Minister, Gupta’s selection was ultimately announced. She will lead a six-member cabinet including Parvesh Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh. The swearing-in ceremony took place at Delhi’s Ramlila ground.
