Thu Feb 20 10:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Spinners Dominate as USA Defeats Oman in Historic ODI Match
**Al Amerat, Oman –** In a match for the record books, the USA defeated Oman by 57 runs in an ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 match, creating history in the process. For the first time in 4,671 men’s ODIs, Oman bowled exclusively with spin, employing spinners for all 61 overs. This unprecedented tactic, however, couldn’t prevent their loss.
The USA, after being bowled out for a low 122 in 35.3 overs, successfully defended this total – the lowest score successfully defended in a full men’s ODI. This breaks the previous record held by India since 1985.
Nosthush Kenjige starred for the USA, claiming a career-best 5-11, while Oman’s innings crumbled to 65 in 25.3 overs. The combined 187 runs is the second-lowest aggregate score in a full men’s ODI. The 19 wickets that fell to spin also matched a record for most wickets claimed by spinners in an ODI.
The match highlights a remarkable shift in bowling strategies, following a similar trend in T20 cricket earlier this year. The game’s unique circumstances will undoubtedly spark debate amongst cricket analysts and fans alike.
