Thu Feb 20 10:08:12 UTC 2025: ## BJP’s Verma Sworn In as Delhi Minister After Upset Victory Over Kejriwal

**New Delhi** – Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, who scored a stunning victory over Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal in the recent Delhi Assembly elections, was sworn in as a cabinet minister in the newly formed BJP government on Thursday. The ceremony, held at Ramlila Maidan, saw six ministers take their oaths.

Verma, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, was considered a strong contender for the Chief Minister’s post following his upset win. He attributed his success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and the trust placed in the BJP by the people of Delhi. “The people of Delhi have shown immense love,” Verma stated, expressing gratitude to PM Modi. “After 27 years, a BJP government is forming in Delhi, and I believe under PM Modi’s leadership, we will make Delhi the most beautiful capital.”

Verma’s political career began in 2013, when he won the Mehrauli assembly seat. He later served as a Member of Parliament for West Delhi, winning in both 2014 and 2019. His political journey has not been without controversy; in 2020, he faced a 24-hour ban on campaigning for allegedly referring to Kejriwal as a “terrorist.” His recent victory against Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency marked a significant turning point for the BJP in Delhi politics.
