Thu Feb 20 10:32:18 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman Ruled Out of Champions Trophy 2025 Due to Injury

**Karachi, Pakistan –** Pakistani cricket star Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to a chest muscle injury sustained during the tournament opener against New Zealand. The announcement was made by Zaman himself via X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.

Zaman, who famously scored a century against India in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, suffered the injury while fielding on Wednesday. Despite the pain, he batted at number four, scoring 24 runs from 41 balls before retiring hurt.

The injury adds to Pakistan’s woes, as they are already without opening batsman Saim Ayub due to an ankle injury. Imam-ul-Haq is reportedly set to replace Zaman in the squad.

Zaman’s absence is a significant blow to Pakistan. His 114-run performance in the 2017 final against India was instrumental in securing victory. The team’s opening partnership struggled in his absence during the match against New Zealand.

Zaman expressed his disappointment but remained positive on social media, stating, “Representing Pakistan is an honour… Unfortunately I’m now out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 but surely Allah is the best planner… The comeback will be stronger than the setback.”
