**New Delhi, [Date of Publication]** – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully conducted its Class 10 Science examination today across 7,842 centers in India and 26 locations abroad. Approximately 42 lakh students are sitting for the Class 10 and 12 board exams this year. The three-hour exam, which began at 10:30 am and concluded at 1:30 pm, was held under strict security measures to prevent cheating. Mobile phones and other electronic devices were strictly prohibited.
The 80-mark paper was divided into five sections, encompassing a range of question types including Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Reason Assertion questions, and various levels of short and long answer questions, as well as Case-Based and Competency-Based questions.
Initial student and teacher feedback suggests a balanced paper with a mix of easy, moderate, and challenging questions. Dr. Arti Chopra, principal of Amity International School, Gurugram, noted approximately 46% of questions were easy to moderate, while application-based and competency-based questions accounted for 22% and 32% respectively. While generally well-received, some minor issues were reported, such as incomplete data in an MCQ option. Students reported the Biology section as easier than Physics and Chemistry. Renu Tewari, Department Head of Science at Vidyagyan School, Bulandshahar, described the paper as balanced, emphasizing application-based and higher-order thinking questions.
The CBSE also addressed earlier allegations of a paper leak, issuing a statement refuting the claims as baseless and intended to cause unnecessary panic. The board confirmed its active monitoring and actions against those spreading misinformation. Strict guidelines were in place regarding dress codes and permitted/prohibited items in the examination hall. Permitted items included basic stationery and a transparent water bottle, while electronic devices, additional stationery, and personal belongings were strictly forbidden.
The smooth conduct of the examination marks a significant milestone in the CBSE Board Exams 2025.
