**Hyderabad, February 19, 2025** – A former Andhra Pradesh home guard, identified as Govardhan, has been remanded to judicial custody for allegedly defrauding an entrepreneur of ₹2.82 lakh. Govardhan, who was dismissed from the police force after failing to report for duty, posed as a Hyderabad Task Force official working at the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC).
He befriended Prasad, an entrepreneur, at a Banjara Hills cafe and offered assistance in establishing a hotel business in Kukatpally. This offer led to multiple transactions totaling ₹2.82 lakh, after which Govardhan disappeared. Prasad’s suspicions were aroused, and a visit to the ICCC revealed Govardhan’s false identity.
Following Prasad’s complaint, Banjara Hills police launched an investigation, resulting in Govardhan’s arrest on Tuesday. Police confirmed Govardhan’s past employment with the Andhra Pradesh Police but noted his dismissal due to failure to report for duty.
