Wed Feb 19 07:02:12 UTC 2025: ## Delhi BJP’s Landslide Victory Culminates in High-Security Swearing-In Ceremony
**New Delhi, February 19, 2025** – Delhi is bracing for a highly secured swearing-in ceremony for its new Chief Minister, to be held at Ramlila Maidan on February 20th at 4:30 PM. The BJP, which secured a historic victory in the recent assembly elections, ending AAP’s decade-long rule, will usher in a new era of governance.
Over 5,000 security personnel, including 10 paramilitary companies, will be deployed to ensure the safety of the event, which is expected to draw a large crowd including top BJP leaders, chief ministers from other BJP-ruled states, and dignitaries. Multiple security layers, including commandos, SWAT teams, snipers, and anti-sabotage checks, will be in place.
The BJP’s decisive win, marked by a significant turnout of women voters, saw them capture 48 out of 70 seats. The party’s campaign focused on a broad range of issues, targeting women, youth, the poor, and senior citizens. Their victory also marked a significant upset, with BJP’s Parvesh Verma defeating incumbent Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
While the BJP’s victory is clear, the delay in naming the new Chief Minister has drawn criticism. AAP has alleged internal party divisions and a lack of a strong leader, while BJP maintains the selection process is underway. Several names are being circulated, but the final decision will be made at a legislature party meeting on February 19th. Speculation is rife about the possibility of a woman Chief Minister.
The ceremony’s location, Ramlila Maidan, holds historical significance, previously hosting Arvind Kejriwal’s swearing-in ceremony in 2013. This time, however, the event marks a significant shift in Delhi’s political landscape, with the BJP returning to power after a 27-year absence. The newly elected government has already indicated its intention to address the needs of slum dwellers, a key voter base previously associated with AAP. Furthermore, the BJP plans to review the status of Delhi’s Mohalla Clinics and the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme. The party has also pledged to revoke the expansion of the former Chief Minister’s residence.
