**Hyderabad, February 19, 2025** – A major crackdown on illegal sand mining in Hyderabad has resulted in the seizure of 1,098 tonnes of illegally stored sand. Joint operations by the Hyderabad police Commissioner’s Task Force and Mandal Revenue officials across the city’s North, West, and Central Zones uncovered numerous unauthorized sand dumps.

The raids targeted sellers operating without the necessary waybills, permissions, or documentation from mining authorities. Investigations revealed instances of individuals using delivery documents from other districts to mask the illegal stockpiling of sand within Hyderabad, where it was then sold at inflated prices.

The North Zone Task Force led the effort, confiscating 889 tonnes of sand from areas including Tukaramgate, Bowenpally, Trimulgherry, Begumpet, and Secunderabad. The West Zone Task Force seized 143 tonnes from Janakamma Thota and Yousufguda, while the Central Zone Task Force recovered 66 tonnes from Musheerabad, Gandhi Nagar, and Domalguda.

Authorities issued a stern warning, emphasizing that the illegal sale of sand without proper authorization is a punishable offense. The investigation is ongoing.
