Wed Feb 19 04:07:56 UTC 2025: ## BJP Landslide Victory in Delhi Assembly Elections: Women Voters Key to Historic Win
**New Delhi, February 19, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved a resounding victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, securing 48 out of 70 seats and ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) decade-long rule. This marks the BJP’s return to power in Delhi after a 27-year absence. The win was significantly fueled by strong support from women voters, who constituted 44.08 lakh of the total electorate and boasted a higher turnout (60.92%) than men (60.21%).
A key upset saw BJP leader Parvesh Verma defeat AAP chief and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency. The BJP’s triumph also saw them win all 10 mayoral posts in Chhattisgarh’s recent civic body elections.
While the BJP’s victory is undeniable, the party is facing criticism for a delay in announcing its Chief Minister. Although the oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for February 20th at Ramlila Maidan, potential candidates like Pravesh Verma, Manoj Tiwari, and several women MLAs remain in contention. Speculation is rife about the possibility of a woman CM, with several names circulating in the media. The delay has led to accusations from the AAP of internal conflict and a lack of vision within the BJP. The BJP, however, dismisses these claims as baseless.
The Union Health Ministry is preparing to review Delhi’s Mohalla Clinics, exploring their possible conversion into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, and plans to distribute 51 lakh Ayushman Bharat cards.
Meanwhile, allegations of missing equipment from the camp office of newly elected BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi, blaming former AAP leader Manish Sisodia, have added another layer to the post-election dynamics. A Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) probe has also been ordered into the alleged misuse of funds in the renovation of Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence.
The upcoming oath-taking ceremony at Ramlila Maidan promises to be a significant event, with extensive security measures in place and a large attendance expected, including Prime Minister Modi and other dignitaries. The BJP’s return to power in Delhi marks a significant shift in Indian politics, and the coming days will reveal the party’s governance plans for the capital.
