**MUMBAI, INDIA –** Vicky Kaushal’s latest film, “Chhaava,” a historical drama portraying Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has stormed the box office, grossing over ₹145.33 crore in just four days of its release in India. The film, which also stars Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna, is poised to surpass ₹200 crore worldwide.
This success marks a significant comeback for Kaushal, whose previous films, “Bad Newz” and “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke,” underperformed. For Mandanna, “Chhaava” adds to her string of recent box office hits, including “Pushpa 2: The Rule,” “Animal,” and “Varisu.”
Directed by Laxman Utekar (“Mimi”) and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, “Chhaava” premiered on February 14th. The film, which faced minor controversy over a dance sequence that is reportedly being removed from some versions, tells the story of the Maratha warrior and his wife, Yesubai, played by Mandanna.
