**Mumbai, February 20, 2025** – Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s historical drama “Chhaava” continues its box office dominance, emerging as Bollywood’s first major hit of 2025. The film, which released on Valentine’s Day, has crossed ₹195.60 crore gross globally in just four days.
The film, directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan, saw a strong hold on Tuesday, defying typical post-weekend dips. Despite a 6.50% increase in collections on Tuesday (₹25.56 crore net in India), following a 50.52% drop on Monday, industry tracker Sacnilk reports that the film’s Monday performance was “phenomenal,” surpassing ₹20 crore net in India, a feat achieved by only a handful of post-pandemic releases on a working day.
“Chhaava,” a cinematic adaptation of Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel, opened with a massive ₹31 crore net on its release day, followed by ₹37 crore and ₹48.5 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The five-day domestic total stands at ₹166.06 crore net. The overseas market contributed ₹27 crore gross in four days. The film boasts an impressive 32.52% Hindi occupancy on Tuesday.
The film features an all-star cast including Vicky Kaushal as Maratha king Sambhaji, Rashmika Mandanna as Maharani Yesubai, Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, and boasts a score by AR Rahman. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh gave the film a 4.5-star rating.
