**Toronto, Canada –** Investigators have recovered the flight data and cockpit voice recorders (“black boxes”) from a Delta Air Lines regional jet that crashed and flipped upside down at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport on Monday. Twenty-one of the 80 passengers and crew members sustained injuries in the incident.
The CRJ900 aircraft, operated by Delta’s subsidiary Endeavor Air, was arriving from Minneapolis-St. Paul when it experienced a landing mishap in windy conditions. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is leading the investigation into the cause of the accident. Senior investigator Ken Webster confirmed the retrieval of the black boxes, which have been sent to a TSB laboratory for analysis. The investigation will focus on determining why Flight DL4819 ended up belly up on the runway.
